As Seen in Theatres Franken Contest

All right guys! Now I won't have to bug you to enter it anymore! I WILL have to bug you to vote, though. ;)

I am so very proud of all you guys. You really rocked it! Not only did you rock my socks off, but you freaking rocked my face off. YOU'RE THAT GOOD.

I know this is going to sound dumb, cliche, and fake, but it's completely true: You're all winners. Seriously. I know we're voting and there is going to be a person who gets a prize, but that doesn't mean anybody loses. Everybody has different opinions. But the only person you need to please is yourself. That's what the point of making frankens is! To create something that you love, no matter what anybody else thinks of it. And I'm pretty sure you all love your frankens, so everyone has already won! I hope you remember that, because those are bona-fide words of wisdom coming out of my mouth (fingers?) and I don't produce those often!

I am just itching to show you these talented ladies' creations but I need you to keep a few things in mind first:
  • These entries are not in any specific order, I just put them up in the order they were submitted to me
  • These pictures are all actually much larger. Please, please, PLEASE click on them so you can see them in their full glory, because some details get lost when Blogger automatically resizes them.
  • I did edit the responses a bit to fit the format I'm using. Though I did edit a little bit, all I did was paraphrase and correct. I did NOT add or change ANYTHING. All the words you see below are entirely those of the person they are credited to.
  • Entrants: if you don't like the way I formatted something, email me! I want these frankens to be presented exactly the way you desire.
  • Voters: Take into account a few things: how well the franken represents the movie (that is what the contest was, after all), how unique the franken is, which one would catch your eye if you saw it at the drugstore, and which one just plain speaks to you.
All righty then!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Things were getting too serious.

Without further ado, ze frankens magnifique! (sorry if the spacing is weird sometimes. Blogger refuses to cooperate with me.)

Her franken:
A Very Smurfy Hangover

The movie she chose:
The Smurfs

Her inspiration:
"Smurfs, duh. ;) This polish reminded me of everything Smurf with it's blue base. The combination of glitters = Smurf Vomit. Therefore, you have yourself a very Smurfy hangover."

Her recipe:
Pure Ice Celestial
Icing Epic Winning
Sally Hansen Ice Queen
LA Colors Jewel Tone

2. Stefani of I Love Pretty Colors

Her franken:
A Galaxy in a Bottle

The movie she chose:
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

Her inspiration:
"Why Star Wars? Because I love it. The franken was inspired by the scene in which Han Solo and Chewie jump to light speed with the Millenium Falcon. In addition, I'm a huge astronomy fan! :)"

Her recipe:
Orkide Olivia 51 (black creme, local brand)
Catherine Arley 674 (greyish blue holographic)
Amount ratio is 1:1.

3. Naomi of Naomi Taylor

Her franken:
Pan

The movie she chose:
Pan's Labyrinth

Her inspiration:
"'Pan' is the name of the faun that guides Ofelia through her tasks and also the name of my polish. Pan was an elusive, mystical character that was always there and always accompanied by his fairy companions, so, apologies for the poor camera; my camera is crap and I am so annoyed that it didn't capture it at all how I see it. It dries to a slightly matte finish (would probably be more appropriate to call it satin or frosted :D) but the gitter kinda opposes it, a representation of how Ofelia was between worlds and didn't know if to trust the faun."

Her recipe:
ELF's Matte Finisher
Barry M's Navy
La Femme in 3
Fyrinnae's Dinosaur Plushie pigment
Barry M's Dazzle Dust in Gold Iridescent

4. Gillian of Jeez Trendz

Her franken:
On a Nail Far, Far Away...

The movie she chose:
The Star Wars Saga

Her inspiration:
"I have always loved all of the Star Wars movies and when I saw this great contest’s theme I couldn’t resist making a Star Wars themed franken! The aspect of the movie that inspired me was of course all of the space travel and space battles. So here is the best I could do with making a mini nail galaxy worthy of the Millennium Falcon!! I hope you enjoy this!!"

Her recipe:
N.Y.C White Lights Glitter
Confetti Pink Confetti
W’n’W Blue Wants To Be A Millionaire and Party of Five Glitters
L.A. Colors Silver Glitter and no name purple glitter
Borghese Mediterrano Sea, Purple Confetti, and Maximo
China Glaze White Cap
OPI The One That Got Away
Milani Gems
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear In the Spotlight
Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter
Sinful Colors Black on Black
Some unnamed Claire’s eye shadow pigments in silver and black.

5. Tyne of lovebeangirl

Her franken:
Jacob

The movie she chose:
The Twilight Saga

Her inspiration:
"Jacob is my favorite character especially when he is a wolf, so I wanted to make my franken the color of his fur which is a beautiful brown and silver."

The recipe:
Sonia Kashuk Chocoholic
Kleancolor Chunky Silver
Sally Hansen clear

6. Iris of Polish Amor

Her franken:
Pinkabruiser

The movie she chose:
Legally Blonde

Her inspiration:
"Legally Blonde is one of my all time favorite movies... so when I thought about a movie to make a franken for I figured this would be the perfect movie. Elle Woods is all about bright pink and shimmer, sparkle.....glitz......... and her best friend Bruiser... hence PINKABRUISER :P"

Her recipe:
1/3 Clear Polish
20-25 drops of TROPEZ ~Flamingo
20 Drops OPI Koala Bear-y
20 Drops NYX  ~NGP 153 Dynamic Glitter
25 Drops Wet n Wild ~ Kaleidescope
20 Drops Love n Beauty ~ Magenta Glitter
20 Drops Love My Nails ~ Crystal

7. Meeka of Strange Nails

Her franken:
Amalthea

The movie she chose:
The Last Unicorn

Her inspiration:
"The title character from the 1982 animated film The Last Unicorn. Amalthea is the name given to the unicorn when she is turned into a human in order to save her from the Red Bull. The Last Unicorn is a movie that has a special place in my heart. I loved it as a child and watched it over and over, I'm sure my parents hated it lol. I still love it to this day, and I've not been able to stop singing the theme song for it every time I even think about my polish :P "Then look into the sky where through the clouds a path is torn, look and see her how she sparkles it's the last unicorn" When I read about your contest I was going through movies in my head trying to decide on one to create a franken after. When this movie popped into my head it came complete with an image of what the polish should look like and so I ran with it. (My franken actually turned out almost exactly how I imagined it so I'm quite happy with the results.)"

Her recipe:
Cover Girl Boundless Color Sparkle Top Coat in 435 Crystal Mist
Winmax Light Color Nail Enamel #148
Crayon Manicure #CMK 1002 (ChG White Cap Dupe)
Milani 3D Holographic 509 HD
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear 21 White On
Wet n Wild Shine Clear

Her franken:
The Toxic Avenger

The movie she chose:
The Toxic Avenger

Her inspiration:
"'Poor little nerdy Melvin, picked on and teased daily until his horrifying accident, when he fell into a vat of nuclear waste, transforming little Melvin into a hideously deformed creature of super-human size and strength. Melvin became, (insert tacky 80's music here) 'The Toxic Avenger', the first super hero born out of nuclear waste. The rapists and muggers didn't know what law and order was until, The Toxic Avenger came to town!' This hilarious, campy horror cult movie is my inspiration behind my franken name. I did my best to capture this incredible polish, but it was tough. The olive/purple/grey perfectly fit with the look of Melvin's transformed mutant body, and the holo was the "nuclear" after-glow effect. This is an amazingly fun contest and I thank you so much for the opportunity on sharing my franken!"

Her recipe:
Hard Candy in Beetle
Wet n Wild Fast Dry in Gray's Anatomy
Spectraflair Holographic Pigment

9. Amber of Nails Like Lace

Her franken:
Enemigo

The movie she chose:
Interview With the Vampire

Her inspiration:
"My franken is based on Claudia, the 'daughter' of Louie and Lestat from the movie Interview With the Vampire. The title came from the fact that her and Antonio Banderas' character Armand are, in a way, enemies in almost fighting for Louie's partnership and affection. Since Antonio Banderas is Spanish in origin, I gave the polish the name 'enemy' in Spanish: Enemigo. The idea of this franken is that it is a pale 'innocent' pink because Claudia appears to be an innocent little girl, however, she has the bite of death, which is where the fierceness of the glitter comes in."

Her recipe:
Kiss Nail Art in Silver Striper
Glitzy Girl #BC195
NYC in Starry Silver Glitter
Pure Ice in Spit Fire
Kleancolor in Pastel Pink

10. Suiling of Lovely Little Things

Her franken:
The Lively One

The movie she chose:
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Her inspiration:
"More specifically I was inspired by the character Bridget, played by Blake Lively. Blake had such a vibrancy to her that made the character really jump to life. Her bubbliness and sunny nature inspired me to create this polish which I named The Lively One."

Her recipe:
Rimmel Clear
Sinful Colors Unicorn
Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow
Sephora by OPI Cab Fare
Nubar 2010
Nfu Oh 50
Wowwow #59
Cult Nails Captivated
Northern Lights Holo Topcoat in Silver
NYC White Lights Glitter

11. Katie of The Nailaholic

Her franken:
Rue's Song

The movie she chose:
The Hunger Games

Her inspiration:
"The name of mine is "Rue's Song." It is inspired by Hunger Games (I know it's not out yet, but the books are and screen shots are all over the place!). When I first think of Rue from the movie, I think of fairy's and glitter and happiness. That's where this came from."

Her recipe:
Clear polish
Loose glitter from ebay

12. Maia of Lalznails

Her franken:
Despicable Me

The movie she chose:
Despicable Me

Her inspiration:
"I was inspired by the kid movie 'Despicable Me' because I am very despicable :D Mwahahaha and I thought of despicable as rich, snobby, and full of attitude (lol)."

Her recipe:
Sally Hansen - Celeb City (silver)
Gold Polish
Jordana - Crystal Glitter (glitter polish)
Color Club - Pyschedelic Scene
Hexagon glitter polish

13. Sandra of My World

Her franken:
Plastics

The movie she chose:
Mean Girls

Her inspiration:
"It's just an awesome movie and so quotable. It's one of my favorite chick flicks. When I read about your competition, this movie was the first that popped into my head. And like in the movie, Plastics are pink, shiny and good looking."

Her recipe:
Sinful Colors - Pink Forever
Sinful Colors - Mindy
Wild and Crazy - Ladylike
Manhattan - #153
Nivea (bamboo line) - Stellar Shell
Nivea (bamboo line) - Violet Tulip
Carlo di Roma - #11

14. Meg of Beauty on a College Budget

Her franken:
It's Time to Grow Up, Molly!

The movie she chose:
Uptown Girls

Her inspiration:
"I was inspired to make this polish by the character Molly because of how she evolved from the person who couldn't take care of herself to this amazing person who brought joy into other's lives. I picked to do a muted pink super glitter polish. I feel like the muted pink was her growing up and the glitter was a part of her that will never die, and believe in magic. Molly had this a forever a child feel to her. That she was magical."

Her recipe:
A mauve Elf polish
Jessie's Girl in Baby Cakes
NYC in Starry Silver Glitter

15. Meg (who does not have a blog)

Her franken:
Never Let Go

The movie she chose:
Titanic

Her inspiration:
"Right behind Romeo and Juliet, Titanic is one of the most well known tragic star-crossed love stories. My lovely glittery blue color was inspired right at the spot where poor Leonardo becomes a icy blue popsicle and then sinks into the ocean. It's named Never Let Go because that's what Jack tells Rose. It can be interpreted several ways in the movie it is supposed to be never let go of life. In this case it's on your hands... never let go."

Her recipe:
Wet N Wild Bijou Blue
Sinful Colors Hottie
Sally Hansen Invisible (Clear)
Nicole Respect the World
Clear sparkly polish Profusion
Crystal Disco glitter

Wow! To everyone who entered, thank you so much for not making this contest a complete fail! Sometimes it's hard to put yourself out there, but you did it anyway, so you're awesome.

And now! The vote. It will be open for one week.

**Edit: If you're entered in the contest, yes, you can vote! You can vote for either yourself or someone else, whatever you want!

Also, I'm getting some comments that say "So-and-so is the best!" and I'm deleting them. If you want to vote for someone, do it in the form, please.**

I will be resuming the 31-day challenge tomorrow. You'll see both days 10 and 11 then. I will announce the giveaway winner when I announce the contest winner, since I need to go through and allot people their extra entries and the same person cannot win both the contest and the giveaway.

Good luck to everyone!
