Another jelly sammich!

7:45 PM Laura 1 Comments

I am really ashamed at how old this is... and it's not even the oldest post in my drafts folder... these pics were uploaded on Jan. 7 but they were probably at least a week or two older than that. Yikes. Well, better late than never!

First up we have Wet n Wild Night Prowl.

Night Prowl is a dark brownish black jelly base with tiny fuchsia glitter. I believe this is two coats.

Then I slapped on a layer of Color Club Very Merry Berry followed by a coat of OPI Houston We Have a Purple.

Oh my gosh it's just so shiny IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL. Wow, I really like this! I love the large pink hex glitter, it's so shiny and sequin-like. The smaller blue color is really pretty, too.

All right guys I'm listening to Imagine right now and I kind of want to give all the Beatles a humongous hug because I JUST LOVE THEM ALL SO MUCH GUYS LIKE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND... Ugh I just wish I could meet them all. That would literally make my life.

Oh hey, I should probably start working on that franken for you guys to name! Hopefully it'll be super awesome... I am quite confident in my frankening abilities, heh.

Deborah Lippmann Don't Tell Mama + glittahhh

7:45 PM Laura 2 Comments

Good evening, dears! I hope you are all doing absolutely wonderfully today. This morning started off a littly rocky (it's a Monday, what do you expect?) but I'm feeling lovely now.

Did you watch the Oscars last night? Notice any nails? I didn't get a close look at anyone's hands but I loved Jessica Chastain's dress! Emma Stone's was a close second.

Anywho, today I will be sharing with you a lovely mani that begins with Deborah Lippmann Don't Tell Mama.

magical bottle shimmahhhh

2 coats. Don't Tell Mama iiiis dark. I can't really tell what the base color is. Maybe a super dark indigo? And it's got a blue-purple-teal shimmer that's very pretty but a tad bit shy.

The formula was pretty nice, although I was kind of hoping that something as expensive as a Lippmann would not only apply itself but then give me a foot massage, so I was a wee bit disappointed.

Then, because that was lacking a certain "oomph," I layered Butter London Tart With a Heart on top.

That's more like it! Tart With a Heart is a pretty sheer glitter full of lots of tiny glitter specks and some larger hex glitter. They all flash iridescent blue, green, yellow, and sometimes pinkish. It's very pretty and produces a rather galaxy-like effect. It's also got some teeny tiny specks of black glitter, but they were invisible over the dark base.

This is one of those super gorgeous mesmerizing manis that you have trouble looking away from. It's really beautiful! Kind of like when you have a really great hair day and you spend all your time looking in any reflective surface you can find because you just look so goshdarn GOOD. I mean, what... I don't do that... *cough*

More Flakie Magic

7:45 PM Laura 0 Comments

So today, as a reward for you guys being so ridiculously fantastic, I have decided to share with you more adventures from flakie-land.

I started with 2 coats of the wonderful Essie Mesmerized, a very nice blue creme. I followed that with one coat of Essie Shine of the Times.

Then I added two coats of Finger Paints Flecked.

And after that, I added a coat of Essie Matte About You.

This was really freakin' cool! It's like a flakie party all up on my nails. Since I don't have any of the multicolored flakie topcoats i.e. Cult Nails Unicorn Puke, I decided that this would do the trick. I love it! Kind of reminds me of this:

Come on, that's adorable.

Oh right, and also about the giveaway. OK, so I want it to be at least some sort of contest since giveaways are too easy, and most of you said contest as well. But I know not everyone has equal abilities when it comes to nail art and the like, so I think what I'll do is make a franken, and then everyone can submit names for it. I'll let everyone vote on the names (they'll all be anonymous so that people can't lobby for votes from their followers, so that way people with more followers won't necessarily win) and whoever's name gets chosen will get the prize (including the franken they named, and maybe I'll make a custom franken for them too). I was going to go out today prize-hunting, and hopefully I'll get the contest together within a few weeks!

I Return!

7:45 PM Laura 0 Comments

Phew! It's been what, like a million years since I last posted? But I have a wonderful mani to show you in order to try to make up for being flakier than a freshy-baked croissant.

We will start with Savina Purple Reign.

2 coats. Purple Reign is a deep red-based purple lacquer with a heavy dosing of blue shimmer. It's really pretty, and it provides the perfect background for awesomeness.

The formula was very nice, it's the first Savina I've ever tried, I'd seen the brand a few times before but never in person. It was a good first impression!

Then, because I couldn't leave it at that, I did a reverse gradient with Essie Shine of the Times.

It was surprisingly easy to do. I just blobbed some down near my cuticle and then wiped most of the polish off the brush, then used it to drag the flakies up my nail. With a nice layer of topcoat, it's shiny and smooth! I love it, it's so pretty.

Anyway, I have quite recently passed the 300 follower mark so I think a contest/giveaway is in order! I'll go out looking for some prizes that are worthy of you guys' awesomeness, and hopefully get something together soon. Would you guys rather do a contest or a giveaway? I personally think contests are more fun but I know giveaways have their benefits too because they're not dependent on followers. Let me know which you'd prefer! And thank you guys so much for being freakishly awesome.

Guest Post - Eye Heart It

7:45 PM Laura 0 Comments

Today's guest post is courtesy of a lovely lady by the name of Larie who runs a fabulous blog called Eye Heart It. She is really freaking awesome and does really amazing posts! I know you'll enjoy this so here she is!

"Hi everyone! I'm Larie. *blush* When Laura asked me to do a guest post, I may or may not have panicked a little, because while I do post the occasional NOTD or nail polish review...I suck at them. My nails aren't pretty and I don't have any nail art skillzzzzz; usually all I do is slap on two coats of a pretty polish and go "Oooooooooh." Then I wear it until I scratch up my nails (easy, I'm a climber) and repeat the whole process again.

After a bit of flailing (and a mini-consultation with Laura) I decided I could take one of Laura's pretty NOTDs and use it to inspire an eye look. Which is what I did. I'm sorry if you came here to a nail blog expecting...a nail post. Please don't throw tomatoes at me. *puppy eyes* I had permission!!!!!

So I picked this one:

I like blue eye shadow, and I know Laura is a teal fiend, so it was a good choice. Here's the look!

UDPP Eden + Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, Shiro Cosmetics Desu (pastel blue), A Neat Gun (teal with orange glitter), Veran (dark blue with red glitter), UD 24/7 Glide-on Liner in Binge

I think it might be wearable if you weren't wearing blue (that might be a bit much). But paired with a peachy brown blush and some nude lipstick, you'd be ready for a night on the town! If you did such things. I, being boring, do not. I just walk the dog and scare the neighbors. Anyhoo.

Thanks for having me, Laura! :) And now you may resume your nail posts, bwahaha."

Yay! Larie is really amazing, she is the cutest thing and I enjoy her blog so much! She is where I discovered Thursday Posts and she also does Foodie Fridays that make me drool over my keyboard. I highly recommend FOLLOWING HER!

Final Mani:

I first started with two layers of Zoya Savita, which turns out to be an amazing matte polish!

Then I did some subtle stamping using Glitter Gal Silver 3D Holo and Konad m83, this really didn't turn out as I had pictured it in my head...

Sooooo I added more stamps from the same plate Konad m83 using ManGlaze Mayonnaise which happens to be another awesome matte polish...

It looked pretty cool matted, but I KNOW how much Laura LOVES Shimmmmmmaaaaaaaaa So I added a top coat and OMG the Glitter Gal really shines thru :) This looked 1000000 times better in person, but you get the idea....

Guest Post - lovebeangirl

7:45 PM Laura 0 Comments

Well happy day after Valentine's Day, all! I find myself in the peppiest of moods, golly gee the world is a beautiful place. This kind of sums up how I'm feeling right now:

Moving on! Another lady that makes me happy is Tyne from lovebeangirl. She's wonderful and is always so sweet and has lovely nails! And today she is going to entertain all you lucky readers.

"Hello everyone, my name is Tyne, So nice to meet all of Laura's lovely followers. I am so excited an honored to do a guest post for Laura she is seriously the sweetest and her blog is one that I check almost daily. So onto the nails I have for you today, I had seen a tutorial on nailside (http://nailside.blogspot.com/2012/01/tutorial-freehand-cloud-design.html) that she did so well that it looked do-able even for me. I have seen a lot of other bloggers already try this, and have great success. So I too wanted to give it a go. I think it came out pretty good and Im pretty happy with it.

The polishes I used were:
orly snowcone
orly flirty
opi funky dunky

Okay well that's all I got so it was a pleasure, and thanks again Laura."

Thank you Tyne! I've seen this one before too, it's really pretty and I think Tyne did a great job of copying it, I love the color choice! The pink shimmer peeking out between the blue and purple is so cute.

If you like what you see (and I'm sure you do) then you should FOLLOW TYNE NOW!!!

That is all for today, my beauties. Until next time, I bid you adieu!
