Untrieds Month: Revlon Carbonite
So, I've got two Revlon polishes to show you and they're both copycats. First up is Carbonite.
Carbonite was Revlon's offering in order to appease the masses of impatient nail polish enthusiasts in search of a cheaper alternative for Chanel Graphite. First I'll show you Carbonite, and then we'll look at some comparisons, shall we?

This is two coats although you could really get away with one. Carbonite is a mainly silver foil/metallic with some smaller brassy particles and a kind of all-over steely shimmer. The formula was quite lovely, no problems to report.
And I'm sure you're all wondering how this compares to the one and only Graphite. I, being a thrifty person, am not in possession of it myself, so I have graciously scoured the internet to find comparisons for you.
Here is one from Cafe Makeup, here is another one from Cafe Makeup except in the shade. Here is a very thorough comparison from nailXchange.
In my own humble opinion, I think that Graphite is vastly sparklier and prettier, but I do like the look of China Glaze Whitecap layered over Carbonite. Yes, Carbonite might be a good-enough alternative for those who are against buying Chanels on principal, but I would really prefer to have Graphite. Ah well, I'll see if I can tweak Carbonite at all to make it sparklier.
I hope this has been informative!
This is SO darn pretty! I love it!
ReplyDeleteSeriously? Unless u have a magnifying glass there is no visible difference between the those two!!!
ReplyDeleteOh but Buddy's a cutie! :) Love love love the pose! :D I shall steal him now!
I have this one and haven't tried it yet........ cute kitty!
ReplyDeletelove the kitty... and the polish :D
ReplyDeleteI have Graphite and it is chunkier, has a lot more sparkle and it's finish is more a foil than a glittery shimmer, but colorwise it's pretty close to Carbonite. Graphite also seems a bit green depending on the light. Your cat is so cute! I have a black one too; his name is Cachemire (nicknamed as cashou/cashmouli)
ReplyDeleteI don't like either one- so I will not comment on that-am loving your cat-so cute!! And you gotta love your polished toes! I gave up on mine long ago!
ReplyDeleteIt looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow the sun to lamp difference is so crazy. still love the color.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, thanks for the links. I have to say...I think I like Graphite better. *cringes* but I just can't get into Chanel polish. I KNOW it's only a few dollars more than Dior, but you know, you have to draw the line somewhere. Lol.
ReplyDelete...you realize that you promised two copycats and then proceeded to give us one, right?
ReplyDelete@Meg: Oh Meg, your eyes are just untrained in the subtle differences of nail polish.
ReplyDelete@greeneyespinknails: Buddy and I have a kind of love/hate relationship, he loves to annoy me and I hate to admit that he's adorable.
@Fingers: I must admit, that was a fantastic pedi. I'm planning to do the combo as a mani soon!
@Larie: Me too! I might have to snag White Cap so I can try layering it on top and see if that makes it any better.
@Anna: Oh em gee Anna, why must you comment only to criticize? Yes, there are two Revlon copycats, but they're different polishes and therefore they go on different days since I only do one polish a day. GOSH.
I simply love shades like this ;) not to mention the cute fatty cat ;)
