On today's installment of "How to Suck at Blogging 101," we'll cover topics such as: disappearing for extended periods of time with no explanation, crappy phoneblogging, lazy manis, poor time management skills, and how to avoid and alienate all the wonderful people you follow.
In short, I am a really bad blogger. I fully recognize how much I suck at being committed to a regular schedule. I really should be able to make this a once-a-week blog, and I don't really have a satisfactory excuse for not being able to do that. I don't want to just abandon this blog, but for some reason it's just really hard for me to keep up with. And it's hard for me to keep up with all of you guys' blogs too, which I hate because I really want to be able to check them all!
I was out of town for spring break (skiing in Colorado!) which was a lot of fun except I had no reception. I'm following 100+ blogs which is a loooot to keep up with if I can't check in every single day, which is getting to be an impossibility. Also, I've heard that Google Reader is disappearing July 1st? Can anyone tell me why and what alternatives are out there?
Anyway, I've got some things from Born Pretty Store to review for you so I'll show you one of them today.
I've always wanted to try those cool dried flowers so I really wanted to review these flowers because they had a nice variety.
I started with OPI My Pointe Exactly which is quite sheer, so I used four coats. Then I topped it with Finger Paints Flecked, a blue-green flakie. Then I put one of the turquoise flowers on my ring finger.
I really like it, I think it looks really nice! Unfortunately I went out grocery shopping later in the day and I think all the layers hadn't dried fully, and I banged my ring finger and the flower tore and it all wrinkled up. :( Which was unfortunate but no fault of the product. So I would give this a positive review! I think it looks really nice.
Here's a coupon if you guys want to use it! They've got lots of great nail art supplies.
I've got another product from Born Pretty that I need to review, so I'll make a Herculean effort to get that up next weekend. I'm really going to try to get on a weekly schedule and I hope I can muster up the commitment to do that! I hate being a fair-weather blogger so I promise I'll try harder if you'll still have me. :)
Hi guys! Once again sorry for disappearing for a while, I have just had an absolutely massive workload lately but I've got a spare minute so I thought I'd show you what's on my nails right now. They've actually been unpolished for the past week (gasp!) but I got around to painting them last night! It's two coats of L'oreal Safari Chic and one coat of Zoya Apple. I also got some super cool henna yesterday so it looks twice as awesome! I hope you're all doing well and hopefully I'll get around to posting again soon! :)
Hi everyone! Sorry for disappearing again, I might have gotten reeeallly obsessed with watching every season of Supernatural in about three weeks? Good news is, I'm all caught up and I've discovered that I can mobile blog! Which is nice because it saves me the trouble of needing my camera and having to plug it in and upload pics because now I can do it all from my phone. So consider this a test run. I have no idea how this is going to end up looking so bear with me. There's only one photo with this post. Can you guys tell me if it all looks all right? I really hope this works! It's Essie Midnight Cami with Essie Shine of the Times on top.
Hi everyone! I hope you're all having a lovely holiday season. :) Today I've got some pics of a very beautiful polish that I'm lucky to have, Lynnderella Snow Angel.
How gorgeous! This was a while ago, but I'm pretty sure this is one coat of Snow Angel over OPI I Vant To Be A-Lone Star. This is one of the most unique polishes I own! How did you guys fare over Christmas, if you celebrate? I got a few polishes myself that I can't wait to show you! I hope you're all well, I kind of feel like I'm talking to myself. I have to apologize for my extended unexplained absence, and I really don't have a good reason to justify it. Things got a little busy and stressful for a while, and after life had settled down I had been gone for so long that I felt guilty and I wasn't sure if I would be welcome back, so I just stayed away. But I'm hoping you'll all forgive me and I can get back into the swing of this whole blogging thing. :)
Good day, my beautiful swans! How are all of your lovely selves today? I've got a real-deal honest-to-goodness REVIEW for all of you today!
This is my first time trying anything from Born Pretty Store and I was really excited! I chose these super awesome nail studs because I've been really into studs lately and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to try them out!
The base is two coats of OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine! which is a lovely dark gray with a slight greenish cast. I just put a layer of topcoat on and then used a pair of tweezers to place the studs on the base of my nails and stick them on.
I really loved the studs! I thought they looked great especially with the dark gray, and they instantly made my nails look a lot cooler and more interesting. They stayed on pretty well, too. I even washed my hair and although some of them did pop off, I was surprised that most of them managed to stay put! Obviously they do stick up but that's kind of impossible to get around since they're nail studs, so it's not an issue as long as you remember not to pick at your nails.
The package did come with plenty of studs and I'm sure they'll last me a while! They were all snug in a bubble mailer when they arrived. Overall I'm quite satisfied with this product and would absolutely recommend them!
And as a special treat for you all here's a fabulous 10% off code to Born Pretty!
(clicking the picture should link you to Born Pretty Store)
So how do you feel about the studded look? I know I'm a little late to the party but I'm glad I made it anyway!
Well! It's been a while, hasn't it? I've missed all of your lovely shining faces. It's taken me a while to get myself together, but I've got a spare minute and I thought that I'd try to ease myself back into this whole blogging thing.
Thanks to Leslie for helping me with the photo problem, I owe you one! Hopefully you all don't hate me now and still want to see some nail stuff. I thought I'd show you some of the manis that I've done since I've been away.
Okay I'll be honest, I have no idea what the base color for this one was. I think it might have been Zoya Kristen? Don't quote me on that. On top is Essie As Gold As It Gets
OPI I Don't Give a Rotter-dam!
Ooohhhh I don't remember the base for this one either... on top is Icing Rockstar From Mars
Layla Turquoise Wave
Zoya Adina
Zoya Charla
Milani Bolting Blue + Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Ring A Ding
Aaand Barielle Hideaway + some off-brand dollar store polish that smells like glue.
Goodness me! This isn't all of it, I've still got some more stuff to show you all, but I think it's enough for one post. How's everyone been? Tell me everything I've missed! I've got so much to catch up on, what's new in the nail world? Fill me in!
Hellooooo! I was going to make a post with a bunch of the manis that I've done over the time that I've been gone, except when I tried to upload photos it said that I didn't have enough storage space? Apparently I've filled 99% of my Picasa space and 20% of my gmail space. I don't even know what that means. I don't have Picasa downloaded so I'm not sure how I've used any of it so I don't know how to empty it out. Can anyone help? I'd really like to get back in the blogging game but there's no way I'm paying for extra storage!
All right everyone! How are we today? Well, I hope?
For my first nail post since returning from my hiatus, I've decided to show you guys a stunner.
The lovely Polish Amor gifted me a decant of Lynnderella's Snow Angel, and I decided now was the perfect time to show it off to you guys!
I started with OPI I Vant to Be A-Lone Star as the base.
Then I applied two dreamy coats of Snow Angel on top and proceeded to take far too many pictures.
Wow, my nails are longer than I remembered! I've cut them down much shorter now. Anyway, as you can see, Snow Angel is completely gorgeous and I just love-love-LOOOVE it! It's so delicate and it makes visions of sugarplum fairies dance in my head. Many thanks to Iris for graciously sharing this beauty with me!
Okay guys, what have I missed in nail world? As you can probably tell I haven't really been keeping up with things, I need to get back into commenting on all of your wonderful blogs and being in the know! Fill me in, peeps!
Well howdy folks! Feels like it's been longer than a month! I told you I was planning to come back, and here I am. Unfortunately I've got a cold and terrible cramps, so it'll still probably be a few more days before I get any nail pics up, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm still alive and I haven't forgotten about you.
Aaand also... I broke my camera. I have an extensive backlog of pics so I should be able to post for a while without problems, but obviously I'm going to need a functional camera to keep going forward, but I'll tackle that problem when I have to.
Anyway, I just wanted to say I love you all and I miss you and I will be back by the end of this week, I PROMISE. How have you all been? What have I missed? I wanna know errrrythaaaang!
Here's a little something as a reward for sticking with me.
So hi guys. I've been pretty bad at posting lately, as I think we can all agree. For some reason I've just not been feeling very motivated lately and it's hard to try posting almost every day. I feel like I've been kind of losing steam because I feel obligated to post as much as possible and I never feel like doing any interesting nail art or stamping or anything. I know I'm probably boring you guys and I feel like I'm not really that funny anymore, for some reason things don't just occur to me. This blog has kind of turned into work. Not because I don't enjoy painting my nails, and not because I don't like you guys, because I do. I'm just kind of busy with school lately and this blog is definitely just adding to my stress load because I feel guilty whenever I don't post here, so I just make some stupid little post that's really not that interesting with some polish that I wore a million years ago and it's kind of lame and I'm definitely not as awesome as a bunch of other great bloggers who have really entertaining, informative posts and post regularly unlike myself.
Also, I have gotten waaaaaaay behind on all of you guys' blogposts. I just checked and I have exactly 500 posts in my Google reader. I don't know if I'll manage to catch up on all of them so forgive me if I haven't commented in a while. The more behind I get, the less I want to catch up because I feel so guilty for not commenting on all you guys' stuff because I am a horrible blogger and you all deserve better.
So... I think what I'm trying to say is, I'm not really sure where I stand right now with continuing this blog. I don't want to just quit because it is something that I used to enjoy, it's just lately that it's been causing me stress. I'm thinking I'll take a break until the end of May/the beginning of June so that I can just relax and focus on school. I'll try to catch up on your posts and I'll keep commenting on all your blogs, I just won't be posting here. Maybe every once in a while, if I'm not too busy and I feel like it then I'll post but it'll probably be infrequent and random. And you can always give me a holla if you want to chat, you know.
Anyway... in conclusion, I love you all and I do plan to come back! I won't just leave you hangin', I promise.
This is 2 coats of a nice Sephora polish that I got cheap in a 3-pack, I'm not sure what it's called. It's a purple foil that's nearly opaque in one coat, but I did two for good measure. The formula was absolutely lovely, although the brush is rather large and wide and paddle-like which was unpleasant but not impossible.
And then I slapped on two coats of OPI I Lily Love You which I haven't used in a while, so I felt like it could use some love.
Mmm I just love all the flakies and glitter mixed in all together. So pretty!
I don't really have much else to say other than I am obsessed with this song.
Feel So Close - Calvin Harris
And I've probably listened to it at least 20 times today. That is all. I wish you a good evening!
