I have decided that I have really been dropping the ball on holiday manis. So I hereby declare that I will be doing seasonal nail art until the ball drops (on New Year's! LOL, GET IT!?)
So for today's mani, we start with Sally Hansen Diamond Strength Diamonds over Wet n Wild Black Creme. Diamonds is super awesome, btw. You should click on some of these pics.
Then I did some sloppy tips with
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Whirlwind White and drew the snow and snowman with a white Kiss nail art pen. I did the details on the snowman with a black Kiss nail art pen. (Thanks for saving me from Sharpies,

I'm so happy with how this turned out! I love the sparkles in the background, and I put another coat of Diamonds over the snow to make it look twinkly as well. Ah, snow... I know you northerners think I'm crazy for saying this but I wish I lived somewhere that it snowed. I feel like I've missed out on so many childhood experiences by not having snow! I've never made a snowman in my life. :( So this is my first!
I can't wait to do more Christmas nail art... I've seen so many festive manis around lately and I am just bursting with ideas! Ah, I love the holidays! Although I really haven't been feeling much in the spirit lately. I need to play more Christmas music and watch Christmas movies!
I'll tell you a secret... even though the rest of my family loves A Christmas Story, I hate it. I truly can't stand that movie, lol. I'm not sure why I dislike it so much. I hate it when he gets his tongue stuck to the pole, and I hate it when his little brother eats like a piggie and his mom thinks it's adorable. Blech. I guess I just like Christmas movies to be happy and traditional, so I hate that movie.
However, every year we watch Martha Stewart's Christmas Special, which is from... well, quite a while ago. Before she went to jail, lol. And we watch Arthur's Christmas too... You know, Arthur, that show on PBS? We've had that one on tape for a while, we even have the tape for the music from it. I love it. It's so adorable!
What are some of your holiday traditions? Do you hate A Christmas Story, or am I alone?
I found the entire Color Club Back to Boho collection at Ross a while back, so I figured I should get around to showing them to you since I've almost worked my way through all of them.
We'll start with Earthy Angel
I have no pictures of it alone, so you'll just have to go with these pictures of Color Club Blue-topia (also from the Back to Boho collection) stamped on top.
Sooo... I kind of love this. This is two coats of Earthy Angel which is a nice tan polish that's darker than my skintone so it doesn't do that weird blending-in thing that makes your fingernails disappear which is kind of freaky. It's quite flattering and I really like it. The formula was nice, too.
I thought it could use some stamping so I tried this one that I haven't used before, and I really like it! Sometimes I find that some stamps don't transfer right when they're super intricate which is probably the most ridiculously frustrating thing ever and it kind of makes me want to flip a table but this one was nice.

So the Texans lost. Ugh. I am very disappointed in them. I think they were getting too comfortable and feeling like they couldn't lose, but at some point the other shoe was gonna have to drop and unfortunately it was today. It was just all around bad, but you can bet I still screamed my head off. I still love them, and I know they're #1. I forgive you, Texans.
So I'll have another jelly sandwich for you tomorrow, but today I thought I'd show you a really amazing combo that I did recently. It is GorGeous with a capital G (I felt that I should capitalize both of them for emphasis). I knew I had to have Essie Shine of the Times since it's a FLAKIE so as soon as I heard it had been spotted at Walgreens I hightailed it over there to grab it. I decided to layer it over Hard Candy Sky.
This is 1 coat of Shine of the Times over 2 coats of Sky (by the way, its formula seems to have improved over time, unless I'm just getting more skillful. I think last time it needed 3 coats but this time I only needed 2, and it was pretty easy to apply and not too streaky). Shine of the Times is a very densely-packed flakie. It's got the traditional red/orange-green shift, but over the pale blue it was more subtle and sometimes in different lights it was more of a lilac-blue shift and it was sooo beautiful. It literally looked like opals.
The formula was kinda meh. It was a little thick since it was so densely packed but luckily the flakies went on nice and evenly.
Ughh I cannot get over how freaking beautiful this is... looking at this kind of makes me feel better after the horrible Texans loss today. Kind of.
