Oops... looks like I was going to post this on Leap Day but I mysteriously changed my mind. Huh. I wonder why. Anyway, I must just say beforehand that lovely follower beachgal has informed me of some troubles commenting on/viewing my blog. If you've had any issues, please let me know. I really have no idea what I can do to fix it but I'd like to know so that maybe I could contact Blogger.
Also, I know my camera balance sucks. Sometimes it makes me look yellow, sometimes it makes me look red. I adjust the white balance pretty much every time I take pics to get the polish to look as accurate as possible, because if I don't the default setting is pretty much as yellow as Spongebob Squarepants. So then sometimes even once I get the polish to look right, my skintone still looks weird. I'd really like to get this worked out, I should use some kind of photo editing software. I'd like to start watermarking/labeling stuff too. Anyone have any recommendations?
One of the prettiest polishes I own is Milani Totally Cool. However, it's a bit sheer, so in order to conserve the magic I layered it over 2 coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Deep Purple.
And then I layered over that one magical coat of Totally Cool.
Isn't it beautiful? Totally Cool is a deep purple jelly polish full of pinkish gold flecks that twinkle like a million little suns. It's absolutely gorgeous and I just love it so much.
Oh hey, I went to this really awesome restaurant on Leap Day. It's called Pondicheri and wow it was just DELICIOUS. It's sort of modernized Indian food and it's all freaking amazing. Probably the best thing I've eaten in like a year. Mango ice cream! Ughhh just thinking about it is heavenly. If you're ever in Houston please GO THERE because you will die. (of happiness, I mean)
ANYWHO, I have rambled on a heck of a lot in this post, and I'd love to give you guys the chance to talk for a change, heh.
So today I'll show you this Serena by OPI duo that you've probably seen a million times, but you haven't seen it from me yet so pretend it's brand new and exciting.
This is Grape Set Match by itself at two coats. It's really pretty, very sparkly and has lots of chunky shimmer that's absolutely gorgeous.
And then with Servin' Up Sparkle it kind of just becomes fantastic. It's so sparkly it's kind of ridiculous. I love how well they go together. Servin' Up Sparkle is like the blingtastic Ryan to Grape Set Match's shimmery Allie. The glittery Jack to the grape Rose. A sparkly Romeo to a purple Juliet. You get the point.
Oh guys, I have to ask you one thing. Would you be terribly offended if I offered gently used polish as the giveaway prize? I have a bunch of polishes that I've used once or twice and will probably never use again and I see no reason why they shouldn't have a lovely home like the rest of my beauties that I use more often. I know lots of people swap with used polish, but I just want to make sure you guys are okay with it. To be clear, these would only be polishes I've used once or twice, not something that's halfway gone. Let me know how you feel!
So this is the first nail art I've done in approximately 5 bajillion years and goshdarnit I am PROUD.
I started off with 3 coats of OPI Pros & Bronze. Yeah, it's a little sheer, but it's really pretty! It's got a kind of shift from predominantly pinkish flecks to more orangey looking.
And then I kind of just... did that... I taped off my nails diagonally and stamped it with the circley pattern and then used a nail art pen to draw the lines along the edge of the design. I thin kit looks pretty great! I'm trying to get more inventive with stamping rather than just stamping color-on-color because that gets old.
Anywho guys, I would like to ask you for some nail-art inspiration. Have you seen anything really awesome that I should try? Or maybe you have a super cool idea that you'd like to share. Or you could just give me a random word and see if it inspires me. I'm really up for anything!
Also, I am just in the most fantastic mood today. I really am somewhat distracted because I'm listening to One Direction right now... Judge me as you should. I would judge me if I was in your shoes. Really, I tend to look down on anyone who enjoys boy bands but... They're British. I can only resist for so long! THE ACCENTS HOLD POWER OVER ME. Not to mention they are completely ADORABLE.
I mean how can you argue against that?
I have no shame. I'll just stop talking now.
