Breakfast Club Frankens: The Criminal

Hey followers, all 80 of you! Thanks so much for liking what I do! I love you guys. *hugs* And also, this means we are 21 followers away from my first contest/giveaway, so you're free to pimp me out. On to today's post!

And now we have the grand finale. All good things must come to an end! Making these frankens was so much fun, I loved having a character to encompass in polish. I'm going to make another set of frankens based on Firefly, and then my ongoing project is going to be making frankens based on Beatles songs, but I could be working on that for my whole life, lol.

Anyway, if you have seen the Breakfast Club you have probably calculated that last but not least we have The Criminal.

Ugh look at all that shimmerrrrrr.

Okay, I just have to say that I love Bender.

I love him so much.

I mean look at him. That smirk is adorable.

I really hate Molly Ringwald in that scene.

But more waxing poetic about the indelible Breakfast Club later. For now, onto the polish. *CLICK ON THE PICTURES OR YOU'LL MISS SOME AWESOME SHIMMAHHH!*

I started with a black base, then added gold shimmer and red microglitter. Bender had to be dark, but not black. He's so much more complex than that. I love the red shimmer, it's so great, and the gold shimmer make the polish appear more dark brown than black. This is two coats but one would have been okay, I just had to cover a chip and I'm OCD about having the same amount of coats on each finger.

The formula was nice on this one. But man. I love it so much. Probably mostly because it's Bender-inspired, but still. It's good stuff.

Here's the recipe for The Criminal and The Basket Case. I didn't want to start a whole new index card for just one polish, and I like having the whole collection on the same card.

Anyway, I hope you can tell that I really, *really* love the Breakfast Club. It's like the epitome of teen angst. It's kind of an eye opening moment for teens to watch, like "SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS ME!" It's just such a classic and I can't think of any situation where it's not applicable. The pure simplicity of it, having five people in a room, who would never otherwise cross paths, and yet meeting each other changes so much about their perspective on the world! IT'S JUST SO GOOD.

So now, as we close out our journey, I leave you with this:

The iconic image of Bender, throwing his fist in the air triumphantly as Simple Minds sings Don't You (Forget About Me).

Don't, don't, don't, don't!

Breakfast Club Frankens: The Basket Case

Phew I've had a tiring day. But not too tiring to forget about my fabulous frankens!

Today we have The Basket Case

Yaaay bottle shots! This is in the sun

This one is inspired by Ally Sheedy's character, Allison.

Her goth/emo weirdness makes for some awesome polish.

Oh yes by the way CLICK ON THE PICTURES I FREAKING LOVE THIS THING. You can probably tell from all the photos. It's a charcoal gray with slight purple undertones and a silver shimmer/glitter. It's kind of like shimmer but kind of like glitter too. It's pretty cool. It reminds me of the dandruff she used to decorate her picture. Awesomesauce.

This is one coat, it looked opaque inside but when I stepped out in the sun I noticed some bald spots so it could really use two. The formula was pretty nice on this one. I'm so happy with the way it turned out! She just might be my favorite of the collection, but you'll have to wait till tomorrow to decide for yourself since we have one to go! Are you super duper excited? I AM!!!

Breakfast Club Frankens: The Brain

Before I forget, to anyone who's given me an award recently: I haven't ignored it, I'm just going to bundle them into a post after I finish up with the franken series. I just didn't want you think I didn't care. ;)

Now that I've got that out of the way, here's our next franken in the series. I forgot to take a normal bottle shot, oops. But here's what I have:

It was inspired by Anthony Michael Hall's character, Brian.

Yep, his dazed look pretty much says it all.

You may also remember that under that jacket he was wearing a dark green sweater. And so, as it goes, his polish is green too. Yeah I know, it seems like I'm just basing these frankens off of the characters' clothing, not their personality, but if you didn't notice their clothes kind of reflected their personality. It was a movie all about stereotypes and how the kids made snap judgements about each other based on how they looked. So really, these frankens are a representation of how they project themselves based on their personality.

Oh snap. I just went all psychoanalysis on you. Word.

The Brain is a little bumpy because of eyeshadow pigment, but it's not too bad. And he's the brain. Come on. He's not exactly studly.

BTW, in case you didn't get the hint already, you should click EVERY. SINGLE. PICTURE. You might miss some awesome SHIMMER.

The Full Effect. (yes, it needs to be capitalized. I decided this was more flattering than the other pose, which made my fingers look fat. And yes, that is my dog being spazzy in the bottom corner)

This was a one coater! *Pats self on back* Application was a little difficult but mostly because the Wet n Wild brush was all wonky and too splayed. The eyeshadow clumps are annoying but I added two ballz so I don't know what else I can do.

I have been debating for a long time about what color this is. Um, are you thick? I know you're thinking. It's freaking green, Laura. That isn't my dilemma. I can't tell if it's hunter green, forest green, evergreen, moss green, or any other green. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to call it sweater green since it's the color of Brian's sweater. It's got some gold and other random shimmer, IDK, I didn't have much of a direction with this other than it needed to be sweater green. But I'm happy with how it turned out. I think it's very Brian-y.

Here is the esteemed recipe:

And that, my friends, is the end of today's post. I'm having a lot of fun showing you guys my creations! I hope you're enjoying them too. :D
