Day 6: Violet

**4 days left to enter my contest/giveaway! Tick tock, tick tock!**

Violet makes me think of two things.

Love those books! I might be a little obsessed with Lemony Snicket, so what? *shifty eyes*

Violet! You're turning violet!

But today's challenge pertains to the color violet, in nail polish form. What a fabulous moment to introduce you to one of my Beatles frankens, Her Majesty!

It's a hidden track at the end of Abbey Road, and a perfect name for this polish!

Thar she blows!

She is a wee bit sheer, so I started with one coat of American Apparel African Violet and then a coat of NYC Midnight Amethyst (sorry for the derpy swatches).

Um. Why are there no sun shots!? OMG. What. No.

*sigh*

Well I guess we'll just have to make do. Anyway, I did two-ish coats of Her Majesty because the glitter distribution sucks beach balls. I already dumped an arseload (I feel like using the British term is less offensive, probably not to any Brits out there, though) of glitter but it all sinks/sticks to the sides.

I think I'm going to try and find a glitter polish that has smaller gold glitter in it, that way the glitter would be suspended and I think it would look better with smaller gold glitter in it anyway. More Lippmann-esque.

It has an okay formula, it's a little thin, though, which is NOT HELPING THE GLITTER PROBLEM. But other than that I like it. I was kinda "meh" about it in the beginning which was disappointing, because I want me Beatles frankens to be spank-tastic (the Beatles totally deserve groovy frankens) but it grew on me. Not like a tumor, or mold, more like a... well I can't actually think of anything pleasant that literally grows on you, but you get the idea, right?

Anyway, I think with a few alterations she will be fabulous. Fit for a queen, no?

  8. I think this would be beautiful with golden flakies instead of glitter :O it's absolutely wonderful anyway, but it does seem to be missing a bit o' jazz.

  9. I like it! I haven't gotten any suspension base (yet) but can see it might be in my future. So far, starting with a glitter polish or a flecked shimmer has been okay for me.

  11. Maybe it would have thickened up if you had used that suspension 'stuff' I read about for getting the glitter to dispense evenly throughout frankens. Color is on the right pathway!

  14. @Naomi: Arghhh. Gold flakies would be great except I have no idea where to find them!

@KarenD: Yes, I think that would help my franken a lot!

@beachgal: I think I'm going to add in a polish with glitter already so that it will be suspended. Hopefully it helps!

@Larie: Foo, I don't even know what to do on Twitter! I've thought about it but I don't know where to begin!

@Vintage: I loooved the Johnny Depp version. The creepy vibe was awesome. I think everyone agrees that more glitter = more better! Lol
