Okay, this is super bright. Can you tell how bright it is? See how the camera made my skin weirdly dark in the sun pictures? It was in the midst of death throes caused by the in your face-ness of this polish.
Yum Gum is a bright, bright, bright Barbie pink. I'm not one for Barbie pinks, but the sheer loudness of this one kind of endeared me to it.
The formula was rather subpar. It was a little thick and gluey and didn't level well. I had to do three coats to get it to look even.
But... I must say... it was worth it. I really love this. To me, it smells exactly like Dubble Bubble. Y'know, this stuff.
It's probably the worst gum in the world, it's small and hard and flavorless within about 30 seconds, but it has that distinctive bubble gum smell and taste, and that is exactly what Yum Gum smells like. Not my favorite scent, but as with Raspberry Rush the scent is subtle and you have to literally put your fingers on your face to smell them. So it wasn't really a bother to me.
Continuing with our smelly questions, I find that smells, more so than sounds or sights, tend to evoke memories. Usually not a solid memory that I can put a finger on, more like I'll get a whiff of something and it's just so overwhelmingly familiar but I can't remember for the life of me why. Do you know the feeling?
I do know the feeling! Just yesterday I was smelling a flower & it brought back a vague feeling that I'd been pretty much surrounded by the same scent for a long time at some stage. Finally I decided it had to have been in the gardens at my Primary School, or maybe High School. Songs always evoke memories for me too. But they are a lot more solid, a particular time & place/event :) I'm waiting for Yum Gum to arrive via post - looks so gorgeous, might have to add some thinner by the looks though!
ReplyDeleteIt's how the brain stores memories-assoc with scent. Happens to me all the time-you mentioned double bubble and growing up, I was an AMAZING bubble blower-in contests and everything. Used to do a bubble within a bubble within-well you get my drift!
ReplyDeleteYes, I know that feeling.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love the scent of bubblegum and the polish looks so good. I wanna get my hands on it soon.
@Nail Polish Anon: Ooh, I love the memories songs bring too. I would definitely add thinner to this!
ReplyDelete@Fingers: That's amazing! I won a bubble blowing contest once, but it wasn't anything fancy like that!
@Sandra: It's pretty awesome! I hope you can get it. :)
so pretty I have this and have yet to try it I really need to I love how bubble gum pink it is, it's dead on like you are on how crappy that gum is it makes my jaw hurt!
ReplyDeleteYeah man that bubblegum sucks!! But this nail polish is soooo pretty. Yay pink :D
ReplyDelete@beaux's mom: Try it soon! It's really nice, much better than Dubble Bubble. :P
ReplyDelete@Sonia: Yay Sonia.
